Nicky Hayden: la commovente lettera d'amore della fidanzata

Sono passati solo pochi giorni dalla tragica scomparsa di Nicky Hayden, il pilota rimasto vittima di un incidente in bicicletta nei pressi di Misano Adriatico. Ora la sua fidanzata, Jackie Marin, ha affidato ad Instagram una commovente ultima lettera d'amore: “Nicky, mia anima gemella, hai portato con te il mio cuore quando te ne sei andato. Puoi tenerlo, ma quando ci incontreremo prendi le mie mani e portami a casa. Mi manchi. Ci rincontreremo".

I dream about your smile. Not just when I sleep but every waking moment. The morning of May 17th, was one of the most special mornings for me that I can look back on. The man up above must have been watching closely to see how you spend your last hours with me because you really went the extra mile to show me just how much you love me. Our kiss goodbye before you left for your ride will stay with me forever. Nicky, you are my soulmate and you took my heart when you left. You may keep it but when we meet again take my hand as well and walk me home. I miss you. Until we meet again.

Jackie è rimasta al capezzale del suo amato fino alla fine e ha fatto ritorno con Hayden fino in Kentucky. Non aveva ancora lasciato dichiarazioni, era rimasta sola, in silenzio nel suo immenso dolore. Ora però ha deciso di dirgli addio, ancora una volta: “Sogno il tuo sorriso, non solo quando dormo ma in ogni momento” scrive accanto alla foto in bianco e nero che li ritrae sorridenti e spensierati. Poi i ricordi si fanno ancora più intensi: “La mattina del 17 maggio è stata una delle mattinate più speciali che possa ricordare. L'uomo lassù deve avere osservato con attenzione per vedere come tu hai passato le tue ultime ore con me perché hai dato il meglio per mostrarmi quanto mi amassi. Ricorderò per sempre l'ultimo bacio prima che tu partissi in bici”.

Anche i fratelli di Nicky, Roger e Kathleen Hayden, hanno affidato ai social il loro ricordo: “Non solo ho perso il mio fratello maggiore, ho perso il mio migliore amico. Riposa in pace Tricky, fino a quando non ci rincontreremo” scrive la sorella.

“Non dimenticherò mai il lunedì dopo la tua vittoria nel mondiale, mi hai svegliato per andare a correre. Questo ti faceva diverso dagli altri, questo ha fatto di te una leggenda” sono le parole di Roger.

Nicky my brother, our story wasn't suppose to end like this. You were world champ for a reason. I've never met someone with the desire for racing bikes like you. I remember growing up we shared a room and you studying notes you took from the previous race and we were 12-13 years old, I'll never forget the Monday morning after you won the world championship, you woke me up to go running. That's what separated you from the rest and made you a legend. I could go on. You made everyone here better, cause when you wasn't here, we were riding or cycling to close the gap for when we road with you again,. You pushed me to my best, but more importantly I'll remember what kind of brother you were. You were legend of a racer and a brother. You were there for me no matter what was going on in life. You wanted to help, I'm glad you were able to see me at my best these past couple years, not just on the bike, but mainly off it. I can sit here and ask why all day, but instead I want to be thankful for having a brother like you for 33 years. Don't worry I got the nieces handled. No boyfriends till they're in college and I'll teach the nephews what it takes to be a champion in whatever they decide. This picture is special to me, because after some bad luck and it looked like your world title was over, I grabbed you like this and told you it was still your year, and that was the first thing you did to me when I saw you at the podium. Tell me it back. Even during this incredibly difficult time I still have my faith, I believe if god will bring you to it, he will bring you through it. Till we ride again I love you. #letsgetit #69
